Advanced Practice Educator - Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Educator will develop and implement a centralized orientation process and continuing educational opportunities for Advanced Practitioners across the organization. Functioning within the context of the framework for Advanced Practitioners, in consultation and collaboration with Director of the Office of Advanced Practice (OAP), Advanced Practice managers, Advanced Practice clinical leaders, and Physicians, facilitates training, education and development by assessing, planning, developing, implementation, coordination and evaluation of projects and programs for Advanced Practice staff, faculty, and patient populations. 

The Office of Advanced Practice (OAP)
Hartford Healthcare employs more than 300 Advanced Practitioners at the Hartford Hospital campus, and has developed the Office of Advanced Practice (OAP), one of the first nationally, to provide:

  • Operational support to inpatient and outpatient practice settings
  • A resource for Advanced Practitioner practices including compliance, scope of practice, staffing/utilization, and regulatory issues.
  • Advanced Practitioner professional practice development
  • A comprehensive and competitive compensation structure
  • Continuing education opportunities
  • Credentialing and privileging support
  • Engagement with academic Nurse Practitioner (APRN) and Physician Assistant programs to form partnerships and facilitate improved clinical education rotations

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Completion of Approved Nurse Practitioner Program if appropriate for specialty.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years advanced practice experience in acute care Level 1 tertiary hospital.
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration: Current CT APRN license or Current PA license.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Creative thinking skills and demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods based on needs of the individual.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience: Advanced Practice Educator 3 years preferred.
