Position Description

Urology NP or PA - Community Hospital North of Boston

This position is best suited for a nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) with urology experience to join our multi-specialty team located at MelroseWakefield Hospital, located less than ten miles north of Boston. The position will be primarily inpatient based.

  • Plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, population-specific patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Assesses health status of patients in ambulatory and acute care settings, through physical examinations and review of medical history
  • Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes
  • Participates in the design and implementation of individualized management plans in collaboration with physician
  • Prescribes medication and initiates treatment in collaboration with physician
  • Familiarity with GreenLight Laser PVP or Focal Therapy preferred, but not required
  • Assists, on an as needed basis, in other areas such as inpatient care and consultation services.

Requirements:

  • Assumes responsibility for providing comprehensive quality healthcare to patients under the direction of the collaborating physician
  • Requires a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in healthcare in a hospital or physician practice setting in a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant role
  • Graduate of an accredited and/or approved nurse practitioner/physician assistant program
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current certification in BLS required
  • Other: Ability to be credentialed consistent with the Medical Staff by-laws, required.
