Fiscal Year 2017 Continuing Resolution Efforts
Congress has until Sept. 30 to reach agreement on a fiscal year 2017 stopgap spending plan before current funding runs out. Congress is working to craft a short term continuing resolution that will fund the federal government through the election. With major funding issues in front of them, we must ensure that members of Congress are hearing from the NPs they represent. We ask that you continue contacting your members of Congress, using AANP's Advocacy Center, to help educate them on the actions they can take to remove barriers to practice for NPs.

Support the VA's Proposal
In our ongoing effort to support the VA's proposal, we encourage each of you to continue to communicate with your members of Congress. It is imperative that we show continued support for the VA proposal. AANP members are encouraged to contact your members of Congress and ask them to urge the VA to finalize and implement the proposed rule as written. The tremendous support received during the recent call to action demonstrates our commitment to providing our nation's veterans direct access to the high quality care they deserve. Please act today!

Your Voice is Being Heard on the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act of 2015
The results of your strong advocacy continue to roll in. Just last week, two more cosponsors were added in the House of Representatives – that brings our cosponsor total to an impressive 204 in the House and 51 in the Senate. However, our work is not yet over. We ask that you please continue to reach out to your members of Congress to thank them for their support or ask them to cosponsor the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act. This legislation would authorize NPs to certify their patients' eligibility for home health care services.

AANP Advocacy Center
Throughout this legislative session, it is extremely important for members of Congress to continue to hear from the NPs they represent regarding these key legislative issues impacting NP practice. We ask that you contact your members of Congress, using AANP's Advocacy Center, to help educate them on issues of importance to NP practice:

Urge your members of Congress to support the Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act (H.R. 4756), which would authorize NPs to certify their patient's need for therapeutic shoes.
Ask your members of Congress to support legislation to allow patients of NPs to be counted in ACOs. The Rural ACO Improvement Act of 2015 (S.2259) would allow the assignment of NPs' patients to Medicare Shared Savings ACOs.
Ask your Members of Congress to support NPs and all APRNs by cosponsoring (H.R. 2713), the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act.
