Legislative Update for week of March 20-24 2017
Yesterday, the Senate passed SB 234, a bill supported by NHNPA to create a needle exchange program in NH. That bill now heads over to the House.
Earlier this week, Div. 3 of House Finance voted to amend HB 2 (the budget trailer bill) to abolish the alcohol abuse prevention and treatment fund. This will be voted on by the full Finance Committee next week, and NHNPA will be opposing this amendment.
On Tuesday, the Senate HHS Committee voted to recommend that SB 154 be re-referred to committee (this would mean that the Senate HHS Committee would study the bill further this summer and fall). That bill will be on the floor on Thursday. HB 264, the House bill to create a commission to study the same subject matter, will be having a hearing in Senate HHS on Tuesday at 1:15 (the commission would include an APRN appointed by NHNPA).
Next Tuesday, the Senate HHS Committee will be holding a hearing at 1 PM on HB 208, the bill to create a commission to study involuntary commitments. That commission also would include an APRN appointed by NHNPA.
