August 2018

Dear New Hampshire NP Colleagues,

I hope this mid-summer note finds you all well.

The AANP recently had their annual meeting in Denver, CO. New Hampshire was well represented by Jillian Belmont, DNP, APRN, who received the 2018 State Award for Excellence. In addition, Dorothy Mullaney, DNP, APRN, was honored with the 2018 State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate. NHNPA is proud to have these two outstanding NPs on our team. Congratulations Jillian and Dorothy!

Earlier this year, SB 313 (Medicaid expansion) was passed in Concord. This legislation establishes a commission to evaluate the effectiveness and future of the New Hampshire Granite Advantage Health Care Program. In accordance with this legislation, the New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner Association will appoint an APRN to this commission. The qualified candidate should be licensed as an APRN in the state of New Hampshire and have experience working with Medicaid populations. The commitment will likely require 1-2 meetings per month, in Concord, during usual business hours. If you are interested, please submit a letter of interest and your updated resume to: by 6 PM on August 10, 2018.

Will you be joining Team NHNPA for the Cigna/Elliot Corporate 5K Road Race on August 9, 2018? There is still time to join our team, lead by Team Captain Meg O’Leary by clicking here.
We hope to see you there!

Thank you to the many NPs I enjoyed dinner with recently in the Peterborough area. We had a great discussion around midwifery regulations, private practice, entrepreneurship, and the direct primary care model. I appreciate the lively discussion and professional networking. The food was great as well. I look forward to continuing to visit many of you around the state.

If you have not done so already, be sure to register now for the 2018 NP Week event: Planting the Seed of Health. An evening of dinner, wine, and networking. For our main event, Lisa Howe, MSN-ANP, BC, founder of iMindBody, will teach us about recognizing and managing the stress response using the Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) model. Register Here today!

I am honored to be able to serve the nurse practitioners of New Hampshire. I look forward to hearing from and working with you all. I challenge you to become a member of NHNPA and become involved if you are already a member. Together, we can do great things.
