Empowering Nurse Practitioners as Leaders in Healthcare

Legislative Update 3/11/19

Posted 3 months ago by Jennifer Thompson

This week, the Senate Executive Departments Committee voted unanimously (5-0) to recommend that the full Senate pass SB 308, the legislation supported by NHNPA to buttress the healthcare workforce in New Hampshire.  This legislation (among other things) increases the appropriation for the state loan repayment program and also provides for rate increases for Medicaid providers in each year of the legislative biennium.

Also this week, the text of the budget trailer bill (HB 2) was made public.  One of the provisions in this lengthy piece of legislation is a $9 million appropriation to the University System for the purpose of adding various nursing programs, including specifically “Nurse Practitioner programs with additional specializations in acute care and psychiatric mental health.”
